You have the right to:
- Choose who you want to have access to your private medical records, information and history. Any information related to your medical records should only be discussed with the people medically involved in your care and others that you choose to be involved.
- Be asked for consent prior to the release or sharing of any of your medical records.
- Obtain copies of your own medical records and ask that records be amended (or changed).
- Communicate with your medical providers in confidence and know that your records will be protected.
- Also, special issues that include strict confidentiality need to be discussed with your doctor at the beginning of your care.
