Californians for Patient Care is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the interests of patients and ensuring all California consumers have fair and equitable access to high quality healthcare. Rising costs coupled with state budget cuts and sharp increases in the number of uninsured and unemployed Californians underscore the need for real-time healthcare information and resources to help individuals and their families take charge of their healthcare and find the services they need when they need them.

Californians for Patient Care’s online tool, MyHealthResource, is California’s most comprehensive and free electronic directory that connects people to comprehensive low- and no-cost healthcare services and programs in their communities throughout the state.

Californians for Patient Care aims to empower, inform, connect and protect patients with a broad base of healthcare knowledge so they may make informed decisions before, during and after they need care.

OUR MISSION

Californians for Patient Care serves as the voice of California patients, advocating for equitable access to healthcare services in our changing world of healthcare financing and delivery.

Our key areas of focus 

  1. Availability and affordability of care. What we know as “healthcare reform” hasn’t reformed the healthcare system – it is only a starting point. If we want to reform the healthcare system, we must engage in every component of the healthcare equation.
  2. Collaboration to improve health status. Consumers have a responsibility too when it comes to managing their care – it is time we take the mystery out of healthcare so that people can get informed, take charge of their own behavior and be their own advocate.
  3. Focus on quality of care. California needs to resume its role of innovative policy leader and promote financing and improved delivery systems that ensure that Californians get efficient, high-quality care they need at an affordable price.
